TODAY: Waters sworn in as Belhaven’s new police chief

Wesley Waters will be sworn in as Belhaven’s new police chief, today at noon at the Belhaven Civic Center, the town shared. The Civic Center is located at 257 W Pungo Street.

It was announced on April 1 that Waters would replace former police chief, Chris Kelly. Kelly has since accepted an offer from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office to become a school resource officer.

Prior to accepting the position, Waters was a Captain of Criminal Investigations with Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. His career in law enforcement began in Belhaven as a police officer before moving on to the sheriff’s office. He brings 22 years of experience with him.
