This week’s rain might have contributed to low scores, but it didn’t stop 15 teams from competing in the 28th annual Beaufort County Crimestoppers Golf Tournament Tuesday afternoon at the Washington Yacht & Country Club.

Former club champion, Washington High School standout and current Appalachian State golfer Rob Bergevin teamed with his former coach Jim Kozuch, Thomas Bruening and Lane Raper to win the A Flight with a 21 under par 51 playing the best ball format.

The foursome edged past Deborah Wright, Ron Bright, Tanner Bright and Payne Snow, who shot 20-under, by one stroke and were two shots ahead of Josh Ribeiro, Don Ribeiro, Jon Davis and Paul Andrews, who shot 19-under 52.

Mike Davenport, Mike Freeman, Colby Freeman and Kevin Linton captured the B Flight title with an 11-under 61, one shot better than Pete Lee, Ben Hudson, Phil Perkinson and Mike Woolard, who defeated Derrick Joyner, Corey Rogerson, John Healy and Jason Kirkman in a tie-breaker.

Both foursomes shot 10-under 62.

All money raised went to support the Beaufort County Crimestoppers.
