A Washington woman has been charged in a fatal collision that took place on May 28, Master Trooper Rico Stephens confirmed.  At approximately 7:16 p.m., troopers responded to the collision on NC Highway 33 at Country Road.

Kristen Loree Johnson, of Washington, was traveling west on North Carolina Highway 33 in a passenger car when she collided with bicyclist, Taylor Hathaway Cox of Grimesland, Stephens reported.

Cox succumbed to injuries sustained from the collision while being transported to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville for treatment.

Johnson was charged with Misdemeanor Death by Vehicle.
