Pungo Christian Academy held a week-long offseason football camp at their home field last week to grow interest in the sport and help students get comfortable with the game.
The camp was open for students ages 10-18 and this year, they had six students ranging from grade six to 11. The camp taught the players a mixture of skills including tackling, ball security, throwing, catching, and agility.
Football returned to PCA in 2018 after a long absence and the Raiders are expecting to be able to field a JV team this year after not having one last year.
“The biggest takeaway from being out here is seeing the level of effort from the kids and how much they are enjoying the game of football,” Head Coach Alex Sefton said. “In a small school this gives them exposure to the idea of playing and is very beneficial to our program.”
