Tip leads to fentanyl seizure and arrest of wanted fugitive

On June 25, 2024, deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, along with K9 Athos, arrested 32-year-old Antonio Lamont Harris of Greenville, NC on multiple outstanding warrants and drug charges.
This arrest stemmed from deputies receiving information that Harris was wanted on nine separate charges out of Pitt County and was traveling to Beaufort County in a white Honda Civic. Deputies spotted Harris at a gas station parking lot in Washington and approached him. Harris was arrested on the outstanding charges and K9 Athos was then deployed. K9 Athos indicated on the odor of a narcotic and a probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle. As a result, deputies seized four grams of fentanyl and a small amount of marijuana.
Antonio Lamont Harris was arrested and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $410,000 secured bond under the following charges:
– Felony Possession With Intent to Sell Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance (Fentanyl)
– (8) Orders for Arrest for Failure to Appear out of Pitt County
– (1) Misdemeanor Warrant out of Pitt County
