Mr. Richard Wesley Murray Sr., 86, of West Main Street, Williamston, NC passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
He was born in Norfolk County, Massachusetts on September 18, 1937, to the late Herbert and Frances Dunn Murray. Richard was a graduate of Needham High School and later served his country in U.S. Navy from 1955-1963. On August 8, 1958, he married the love of his life Jeannette Dunlow Murray. Mr. Murray worked as an electrician with Weyerhaeuser of Plymouth for thirty-two years. Mr. Murray was a devoted member of Macedonia Christian Church. He was everyone Pop’s, and he loved watching the kids play baseball and was their biggest fan! Mr. Murray and his late wife Jeanette were known for their festive yard seasonal decorations.
In addition to his parents Mr. Murray was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette D. Murray and one son Richard Murray Jr. and three brothers Ronald, John, and Jerry Murray. Survivors include his three daughters Annette Murray of Williamston, Judy Murray of Williamston, and Robin (Ricky) Harrison of Williamston. One sister Joyce McGray of Rhode Island and a daughter in law Kim Murray of Washington; two grandchildren Bryce Harrison (Brittany) of Williamston, Conner Harrison (Hannah) of Williamston, and two great grandchildren Brooks Harrison of Williamston, and Bristol Harrison of Williamston. He was looking forward to the arrival of his new great grandchild (Conner & Hannah) in February and had lots of love for his many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday July 31, 2024, at Macedonia Christian Church in Williamston with Pastors Greg Sexton and Eric Woolard officiating the service. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery in Windsor with Glen Taylor, Kevin Taylor, Keith Dunlow, Kenneth Stevens, Walter Waters and Paul Smith Jr. serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Tuesday July 30, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home-Williamston, and other times at the home.
The Richard Murray family will be receiving family and friends at the home of Mr. Richard W. Murray on West Main Street, Williamston.
