Mr. Charles Leslie Speller, 89, of 1212 N. Haughton St., Williamston, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Martin General Hospital in Williamston.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Siloam Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim Cox and Roger Leggett officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Speller was born in Bertie County on April 15, 1918. He was the son of the late Charles B. and Eva Lawrence Speller. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a Pearl Harbor survivor. He had worked for 40 years with the Basket Factory and with the Town of Williamston Sanitation Department. He was married to Annie Mae Rogers Speller, who survives. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Larry Wayne Speller of Williamston; one daughter, Tammy Kay Speller of Williamston; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Williamston, and other times at the home.
