Stephen “Steve” Mayo, 80, of Gainsville, VA, transitioned to the arms of Jesus peacefully on August 12, 2024.

Steve was born in 1944, in Aurora, NC, to Marion and Rachel Mayo and always considered North Carolina as his home. He graduated from Washington High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1968 including Vietnam. Steve married Jamie Jenkins in 1971, and they had three children, Hunter, Keith, and Christie. He worked for the federal government for 35 years. Steve is survived by his wife, siblings (Dan and Phyllis), children, and eight grandchildren. His parents and sister, Norma, rest in heaven. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on August 24 2024, at Christ Church UMC in Fairfax Station.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Possibilities (special needs) ministry at Christ Church.
