A Washington-Warren Airport employee was injured when a business jet veered off the runway and caught on fire after landing at the airport this weekend, officials have confirmed.

The employee suffered minor burns and a fractured wrist. A pilot and co-pilot were the only passengers inside the jet; they were not injured, according to City of Washington and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials.

The pilot and co-pilot were traveling from Dallas, Texas, Washington City Manager Jonathan Russell shared. Per flightaware.com, the aircraft landed at the Goldsboro airport at 4:24 p.m. It was expected to take a 15-minute trip to Washington-Warren airport and land at 4:39 p.m.

The jet was a 2008 Cessna Citation business jet valued at $7.3 million. The owner is listed as BJR Management, LLC of 301 N Oak Forest Road in Goldsboro.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the accident.

At this time, there are no signs of significant damage to the airport, Russell said. Continued evaluation of the runway will occur as it is cleaned.
