Don Edward Hardison, age 82, a resident of Greenville, NC passed away peacefully at his apartment with his wife and his little dog, Samantha, by his side on Thursday August 15, 2024.

A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Saturday August 24, 2024 at St. Clair’s Church of Christ and will be officiated by Craig Hagen.

The family will receive friends following the service Saturday August 24, 2024 at St. Clair’s Church of Christ.

Mr. Hardison was born in Beaufort County on September 14, 1941 to the late Edward Erastus Hardison and the late Evelyn Jordan Hardison. He was a 1959 graduate of Norview High School in Norfolk, VA. Mr. Hardison served in the United States Air Force from 1959 until 1982. Mr. Hardison started his training at Biloxi, MS and retired honorably at Keesler Air Force Base, was also stationed in RAF Alconburg, England and obtained a rank of Technical Sergeant. He married Jacqueline Edna Gariepy who survives. He was a former member of the Jaycees in Mississippi and Panama City, FL, a life member of the VFW post 6731 in D’Iberville, MS, former member of the American Legion in Raleigh, a former member of the Moose Lodge, and former member of the Elks Club. Mr. Hardison was a member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, Sharon Lee Hardison, Deborah Anne Hardison Gautier, Don Edward Hardison, Jr. and wife Diane, three stepchildren, Janet Martin and husband David, Susan Smith and husband Glenn, Paul Birch and wife Ann,  1 grandchild, Donovan Michael Hardison, three step grandchildren, Allyson Merchant, Victoria Merchant, Bryce Merchant, and a plethora of great and great great grandchildren, nephew and nieces he adored, and his best friend who he met early in training, Gerry Roddin. He maintained that relationship for 60 plus years.

He is preceded in death by two children, Laurie Evelyn Hardison, David Stanley Hardison, and his twin sisters, Polly Anna Castello and Velma Sanna Woolard.
