Washington, N.C., Sept. 5, 2024 — The Washington Harbor District Alliance (WHDA) announces the resignation of its Executive Director, Margaret “Meg” Howdy, effective Sept. 5, 2024. Meg has served as the Executive Director since 2018 and has been instrumental in advancing the mission and vision of the WHDA during her tenure.

Under Meg’s leadership, the WHDA has achieved significant milestones, including spearheading the plan and execution of the Harbor District Market. Meg’s commitment to fostering economic growth and enhancing the quality of life in the Washington Harbor District has been deeply appreciated by the Board of Directors, staff, and the community at large.

“We are grateful for Meg’s dedication over the last six years” said Chris Furlough, Chair of the WHDA Board. “She has been pivotal in our success at the Harbor District Market. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

The WHDA Board of Directors has initiated a search for a new Executive Director to ensure a smooth transition and continued progress in the organization’s goals.

The members of the WHDA Board are committed to maintaining the momentum and strategic focus that has been established and have a priority to find a successor who will build on this foundation and lead the WHDA into its next chapter with vision and determination.
