Beaufort County is forecasted to receive minor coastal flooding today and into tomorrow morning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

There is a potential for one to three feet of coastal flooding near bodies of water. This includes Beaufort County as the highest water level and impacts include the Pamlico, Bay and Neuse Rivers.

“Low lying areas along the water may be flooded,” NWS reports; therefore, some roads may be impassable.

Wave are predicted to be one foot or less in height along the Pamlico and Pungo Rivers.

Residents should prepare for possible tornadoes across eastern North Carolina tonight.

Winds are expected to reach 23 miles per hour in the Belhaven area, NWS reports. Wind speeds in Greenville are expected to reach 29 miles per hour. Scattered power outages are to be expected.
