Terra Ceia Christian volleyball goes 2-1 for week; Knights soccer wins twice

The Terra Ceia Christian School volleyball team finished 2-1 last week and got some revenge later in the week after losing to the same team a day earlier.
Terra Ceia beat Heritage Christian Academy 3-2 (30-28, 20-25, 25-13, 12-25, 15-12) on Sept. 10 then dropped a 3-1 decision (27-25, 25-16, 17-25, 25-22) to Mt. Calvary Christian Academy on Sept. 12. One day later, the Knight won 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-16).
The Knights had won five of their last six before the loss on Sept. 12.
Leaders for Terra Ceia included:
Sept. 10: Lakin Van Essendelft 13 kills, 11 service points, 3 aces, 3 blocks; Mary Catherine Elliott 22 service points, 3 aces, block; Emily Van Staalduinen 9 service points, 3 aces.
Sept. 12: Van Essendelft 16 kills, 9 service points, 2 blocks; Leah Harrison 6 kills, 8 service points; Elliott 13 service points, 3 kills.
Sept. 13: Van Essendelft, 18 kills, 10 service points, 4 aces; Lily Meijer, 6 kills; Elliott 5 kills, 9 service points, ace, 2 blocks; Harrison 5 kills; Emily Van Staalduinen 8 service points.
Terra Ceia is now 8-3 overall, 6-2 in the Mid-Atlantic Christian Athletic Association 1-A South Division.
Soccer wins twice
Terra Ceia’s soccer team won twice over the past week and sits at 3-2 overall, 3-1 in the MACAA 1-A South Division.
The Knights beat Mt. Calvary Christian Academy 9-0 on Sept. 12, scoring five second-half goals to blow the contest open. On Sept. 10, the Knights beat Heritage Christian Academy, 4-0. The Knights got each of their goals in the first half
The two wins put the Knights one-half game behind MACAA South Division leader Pungo Christian going into Tuesday’s game with New Life Academy (0-3-1).
