William “Billy” Augustus Parvin, Jr. age 89, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024.  A lifelong resident of Washington, he was the son of the late William Augustus Parvin Sr. and Lela Paul Parvin.

A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday September 21, 2024 at 10:00 am at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington.

Visitation will be held Friday September 20, 2024 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Billy is survived by his son, William “Gus” Augustus Parvin III and his wife Nicole, and son Edmund “Ed” Hoyt Parvin and his wife Kate, grandchildren Danya, Walker, Stetson, and Maverick Parvin, and Julia Parvin. Billy is also survived by his two sisters Mary Pierce and Lela “Weensie” Currier.  He was also preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth “Betty” Hoyt Parvin and his brother, Robert “Bob” Webster Parvin.

Billy is a graduate and was a Marshall at Washington High School and attended North Carolina State University. His career was running the Cottage Service Station for over forty years in downtown Washington. He served as a volunteer firefighter for twenty years. Billy was also a lifelong member of First Christian Church where he spent many hours volunteering for the peanut ministry and enjoying fellowship with others.  He was very close with his family and enjoyed family gatherings.  The church and his family were crucial for Billy after his wife Betty passed away in 2020.  No one helped him more than his niece Mary Litchfield Toler.  The family is forever grateful for her love to all throughout the years.
