TERRA CEIA, N.C. — Close to 60 runners braved the threat of rain and a sloppy course to start the local 5K race season through the Terra Ceia Farm Saturday morning. It was a color run, which means the participants were sprinkled with washable colored dye at several spots along the 3.1 mile course, which contrasted nicely with the mud.
All proceeds went to benefit the Terra Ceia Christian School cross-country team and the Knights put on a strong showing, sweep the top three overall spots in the men’s race and two of the top three on the women’s side.
13-year-old Troy Wright won the men’s overall in 19:19.25. Knights teammates Tanner Carawan (19:45) and Coby Alligood (20:04) completed the top three.
10-year old Cabella Alligood won the women’s division with a school record (24:16), followed by Northside’s Emrie Scott (25:15) and Terra Ceia’s Emma Spinner (25:31)
Male age group winners include Luke Mirabella (13-15) in 20:08, Weston Brown (16-19) in 21:07, Avery Bowen (20-29) in 29:19, Aaron Warwick (30-39) in 27:38, Justin Modlin (40-49) in 25:06, Mark Cagle (50-59) in 20:01, Don Day (60-69) in 32:25 and Sam Windley (70+) in 32:46.
