George Frankie Rouse, age 91, a resident of Washington, NC died Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Junior Wainwright, Kenny Beacham, H.B. Midyette, Brad Miller, Glen Whitehead, and David Williams will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service Sunday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Mr. Rouse was born in Pitt County on January 13, 1933, to the late William Lupton Rouse and the late Rosa Sutton Rouse. He was a 1952 graduate of Grimesland High School, and he attended East Carolina University for one year prior to being drafted into the United States Army. He worked for many years as a supervisor at Flander’s Filters. On May 28, 1953, he married Hattie M. Rouse who preceded him in death on March 8, 2017. Mr. Rouse was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church.  A forty-eight year member of the Moose Lodge, served as a past Governor, and received their 2013 Fellowship Degree of Honor.  He was also a member of the Improved order of Redmen.  He enjoyed reading, fishing with his wife, hunting, and buying, fixing and selling trucks. Mr. Rouse was also known by his CB handle “Chip Monk”.

Survivors include his son, Robert L. Rouse and wife Tammy of Sunset Beach, four grandchildren, Bennett Rouse, Taylor Rouse, Jodie Rouse Nano, Daniel Rouse, four great grandchildren, Dawson Rouse, Opal Rouse, Jaxon Nano, and Thea Marin Nano.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by a son, Billy Rouse, a granddaughter, Sandy Rouse, and a brother, William Earl Rouse.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Moose Lodge #1800, 322 Flanders Filter Road, Washington, NC 27889 or to the Red Men’s Lodge, 503 E. 3rd Street, Washington, NC 27889.
