Richard Lawrence Waters, age 72, a resident of Pinetown, Beaufort County, North Carolina went to his eternal rest with our Lord on Sunday, September 22nd 2024.

Richard was born on August 19th 1952 to Ishmael Sylvester Waters and his loving wife, Annette Boyington Waters in Natchez, Mississippi, before they moved to the beautiful state of North Carolina. Named for his Grandfather and Uncle, Richard attended First Church of Christ in Pinetown NC, in his early years, where he was baptized. He was a graduate of Bath High School, class of 1970. After graduation he went on to pursue a higher education at Chowan College. Shortly after, Richard began working in the medical field where he met Cheri Clements. He and Cheri were married and had two children, Anna and Weston, whom they both loved deeply.

Richard loved to hunt, fish, wood working, playing cards and guitar. He often enjoyed spending time at home playing music and singing with his former wife Cheri and family. He also was an extremely talented carpenter and wood worker with a hobby of making tables, chairs, bedposts, and other intricate items. Richard loved to spend time with his brothers and children, but cherished the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren, especially his youngest grandson Cayden.

Later in life, Richard, became a welder/metal fabricator. He enjoyed working in the field and took great pride in his work, but more over being able to support his family. Over the course of his lifetime he worked at several places in Beaufort County, including: Charcoal Service located in Bath, Flanders Filters, P&G Manufacturing, and EPA all located in Washington.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Waters, Mark Waters and wife Kitty, Barney Waters and wife Charlotte, and one sister Peggy Gibson. His beloved parents Ishmael and Annette Waters, and former spouse Cheryl “Cheri” Ann Clements.

Richard’s daughter Anna Waters, James “Weston” Waters and wife Jennifer, brother Mickey Waters and wife Amy, grandchildren Austin, Macy, and Cayden along with many beloved nephews and nieces, will forever cherish his memory as they survive his loss, but carry on his legacy.
