Deputies with Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office were deployed on Thursday, Oct. 3 to the Town of Marshall in Madison County to assist Madison County Sheriff Buddy Harwood. The Town of Marshall is one of many towns in the Appalachia that suffered catastrophic flooding during Hurricane Helene, leaving millions of people devastated. Many agencies across North Carolina and from other states are stepping up to meet the needs of the counties affected by flooding and storm damage.
Sheriff Hammonds has been in constant contact with the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association and has coordinated our response based on the needs expressed by fellow sheriffs to the Association. Standing with Sheriff Hammonds from left to right are Lieutenant Richards, Deputy Jordan, Magistrate Daniels, Magistrate Jones, Deputy Wainright, and Sergeant Best. Magistrate Daniels prayed with everyone before their departure and wished them safe travels.
