BELHAVEN, N.C. – Carr Eagles has become a pretty recognizable name on the Pungo Christian Academy football team this season.

The sophomore has had some high-output games this season. A week ago against Northeast Academy, he completed 12-of-13 passes for 315 yards and five touchdowns in a 57-6 win. He was also a key player in the Raiders’ 22-14 win over Community Christian in Wilson.

The team is now 5-1 for the season with a bye week. Eagles talks about his love of sports, what the season has been like and what’s ahead.

Question 1: Tell us about playing football. Is that the sport you like the best?

Eagles: I play baseball, too, and baseball’s my favorite, but I really enjoy playing football, too.

Question 2: What is it about football that you like the most, because you’ve done a pretty good job with it so far?

Eagles: Well, thank you. It’s just the joy of being out there and getting to make contact and everything.

Question 3: Is there a particular game or particular part of the season that’s been the best for you or the most productive for you? You had a pretty good game when I saw y’all play Northeast last week.

Eagles: I would definitely say that was my best game. It really showed me a lot of things, and I could learn from my mistakes from that game.

Question 4: What’s been the part of the season that’s been the most satisfying for you so far?

Eagles: Well, we’ve really come together as a team this year. After our loss (to St. David), it wasn’t good, but we all came together after and have done well together.

Question 5: So what’s next and what do you think the rest of the season looks like for your team?

Eagles: Just the joy of it, I love playing football. … After all the practices, everything comes together in the game.
