Top 3: Career night by senior leads to Southside’s first win

Last Friday was a night to remember and forget.

Southside and Pungo Christian Academy picked up big wins while Northside and Washington lost tough conference games. In its Coastal Pains Conference opener, the Seahawks beat Pamlico County, 47-26. PCA dropped Community Christian, 52-26. Northside lost at East Carteret, 35-27, and Greene Central beat Washington, 31-29, on a 29-yard field goal after time had expired.

Below are the top performances from last Friday’s Week 8 of the regular season.

No. 1 MyQuan Clark, Southside: The senior had the best offensive output by a Seahawks player this season by rushing for a season-high 292 yards and five touchdowns (82, 7, 54, 52, 37). The team rushed for a season-high 473 yards.

No. 2 Keondrick Melton, Washington: Rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns (49, 7 yards). Also had two tackles.

No. 3 Sincere Columbus, Northside: Rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns (2, 1, 29 yards) and had four tackles, two of them assists.

  • Isiah Knight, Southside: Rushed for 96 yards on 13 carries, caught an 11-yard touchdown and had 3.5 tackles.

  • Carr Eagles, Pungo Christian: The sophomore quarterback was 8-for-14 passing for 160 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 153 yards on 10 carries and three touchdowns.

  • Anderson Thomas, Washington: Five carries for 39 yards and a touchdown (16 yards), two catches for 12 yards and six tackles.

  • Parker Byrd, Pungo Christian: Two catches for 49 yards and a touchdown, 73 yards rushing and a touchdown on seven carries, 1-for-1 passing for 12 yards and a team-high 17 tackles.

  • Zy’Marin O’Neal, Northside: Seven tackles, three assists and two sacks.

  • Chance Haywood, Southside: Completed 2-of-5 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown (11 yards).

  • Jarryn Payne, Washington: Two catches for 39 yards.

  • Daylan Hardy, Southside: Caught a 72-yard pass and had 2.5 tackles.

  • Jackson Walker, Pungo Christian: 12 tackles and four sacks.

  • Gabe Davis, Washington: A team-high 15 tackles and a blocked punt.

  • MicKyle Sastre, Southside: Recorded a team-high 11 tackles.

  • Marek Bates, Washington: Seven tackles, one for a loss and a pass breakup.

  • McKinney Waters, Pungo Christian: 8 tackles and a sack.

  • Tamari Moore, Southside: Recorded six tackles.

  • Austin Gibbs, Pungo Christian: 8 tackles.

  • Ja’Tavion Ebron, Washington: Seven tackles, one for loss, a sack and a pass breakup.

  • Evan Woolard, Pungo Christian: Three catches for 61 yards and a touchdown.
