WASHINGTON, N.C. — Over 100 runners took part in the annual WMPCS 5K @ Smoke on the Water last Saturday.

Runners from all over Eastern North Carolina and even some from out of the state took part in the event. It was billed as a way to raise money for field trips for students at Washington Montessori Public Charter School.

“This isn’t just a race, it’s a chase towards a brighter future for our kids,” according to the race website.
