On Saturday, October 26, the Ware Creek Rosenwald School Committee, along with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Master Carpenter Will David Williams, who helped to build the school in 1921, will host a Friends & Family Festival at the Ware Creek Rosenwald School in Blounts Creek. There will be tractor hay rides, face painting, carnival games, a kids’ costume contest, a pie contest, and fish and sandwich combo plates provided by the Rosenwald School Food Committee and volunteers.
“It is a fundraiser, but it is really more about entertainment for the community where people can come together in fellowship and enjoy themselves, so the costs will be minimal,” said Phyllis Moore-Johnson, President of the Ware Creek Rosenwald School Community Center. “It looks like it is going to be a beautiful Fall day.”
Attendees will also have the opportunity to enter a raffle for a chance to win a Fall Family & Friends Festival gift basket. For those interested in having a vendor booth, they can contact or text Phyllis Moore-Johnson at 347-715-0963. Proceeds from the event will go towards ongoing efforts to bring internet connectivity to the school as well as help maintain and preserve the school, support its educational programs, and provide a space for community engagement and fellowship.
The event runs from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. at the Ware Creek Rosenwald School located at 2144 Maules Creek Road in Blounts Creek.
