Two Beaufort County doubles teams fell in the first round of the NC High School Athletic Association state tennis championships on Friday.

The Washington team of Avery Thomas and Addie Gibbs dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Seaforth’s Bailey Shaddan and Claire Coady in the Class 2-A championships. The duo was playing at Ting Park in Holly Springs.

The Pam Pack duo finished the season 20-7.

Southside’s Eliza Jones and Valeria Gonzalez qualified for the Class 1-A state tournament for the first time. They dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Carrie Marion and Audrey Brown from Mount Airy. They were playing at the Cary Tennis Center in Cary.
