Aurora man arrested on breaking/entering, larceny

From Pitt County Sheriff’s Office
At 8:57 a.m. on October 29, 2024, deputies with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 5011 NC 11 N in Bethel to the business of G Palace Sweepstakes to a reported breaking or entering.
During the investigation, deputies identified 22-year-old Kenneth Leroy Chavis, III of Aurora listed as homeless, as the suspect. With the assistance of officers from the Greenville Police Department, it was determined that the vehicle used by Chavis in the break-in had been stolen from the Greensboro area earlier this month. Greenville officers were able to locate and arrest Chavis on sheriff’s office charges.
On April 4, 2024, G Spot Sweepstakes, located on Pitt Street in Grimesland was broken into. The suspect in that case was also Kenneth Leroy Chavis, III.
Chavis was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center on the following charges. His bond was set at $221,500 on bendable charges with no bond allowed on others. He remains in custody.
