Washington and Southside will play first-round home soccer playoff games in their respective classifications when the NC High School Athletic Association playoffs start on Saturday.

The NCHSAA released the brackets on Thursday afternoon. The Pam Pack and Seahawks qualified as No. 11 seeds in their respective classification’s playoffs.

Washington, the No. 2 team from the Eastern Plains Conference, is the No. 11 overall seed in the Class 2-A East bracket. The Pam Pack (18-2-1) will host the Graham Red Devils (15-6-2) at 1 p.m. at Washington High School.

The winner of that game will face the winner of No. 27 West Bladen (7-9-1) at No. 6 Bunn (10-3-2) on Monday at a time to be announced. Washington would be at Bunn if both teams win and at home if West Bladen wins.

Southside is the No. 2 team from the Coastal Plains Conference. The Seahawks (14-8-1) will host No. 22 Clover Garden (10-10-1) on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The winner would face the team that wins the contest between No. 6 East Wake Academy (9-9) vs. No. 27 North East Carolina Prep (4-5-2). A win by Southside and East Wake Academy would put the game at East Wake on Monday at a time to be announced. A win by Southside and North East Carolina Prep would put the game at Southside.

Both teams are playing well going into the state playoffs.

Washington has won five straight after dropping its second game of the season to EPC champion Greene Central. That includes a 1-0 win at North Pitt that avenged an earlier-season tie to the Panthers and locked up second place in the league after beating conference foes SouthWest Edgecombe twice, Ayden-Grifton and Farmville Central. Their last three games were also on the road.

The Seahawks were 5-1-1 down the stretch, including wins over CPC foes East Carteret twice and Jones Senior to lock down the No. 2 seed in the conference. The Seahawks also tied Martin County, 3-3, after dropping a 4-1 decision earlier in the season.
