Washington’s soccer team will be squaring off against a familiar foe in the third round of the Class 2-A state soccer playoffs after a win on Tuesday.

The Pam Pack got two second-half goals to beat Bunn 2-0 in their second-round match. The win puts Washington (20-2-1) in a third-round match on Thursday against Eastern Plains Conference foe Greene Central. A game time had not been set as of Tuesday night.

Hector Olivares and Braeden Smithwick scored for Washington. Olivares’ goal comes after he scored three goals last Saturday in a first-round win over Graham.

Washington’s two losses this season were to Greene Central, the EPC No.1 seed. The Pam Pack, the EPC No. 2 seed, dropped a 3-2 double overtime decision on Oct.10 at home and a 4-0 decision on the road on Oct. 15.

Greene Central (19-5) beat East Duplin 3-0 in their second-round match.

Southside’s season ended at East Wake Academy in a 3-0 loss. The Seahawks, the Coastal Plains Conference No. 2 seed, finished the season 15-9.
