Brenda Jo Wells Cherry, age 77, a resident of Washington, NC died Monday, November 25, 2024 at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 2, 2024 at Oakdale Cemetery and will be officiated by her daughter, Nikki Clark.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Monday December 2, 2024 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
Mrs. Cherry was born in Washington County on August 8, 1947 to the late Joe Shelton Wells and Daisy Warren Wells. She retired from East Carolina University as an administrative assistant. Mrs. Cherry enjoyed feeding birds, watching wildlife, cooking for her family, word find puzzles, watching cooking shows, games shows and American Ninja Warrior. She was the definition of homemaker even though she worked and she prided herself in providing a welcoming place for her grandchildren to be. Mrs. Cherry was a member of Tranters Creek Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Nikki Clark and husband Joseph of Washington, Tiffany Sopher of Washington, four grandsons, Carson Lajaunie, Nathan Sopher, Austin Ashley, Joseph Sopher, one granddaughter, Katie Irene Forbes, a brother, Johnny Sadler of Washington, two nieces, Wendy Martin and husband Randy, their son Jeremy Martin, Heather Hartley and husband David, two sisters-in-law, Joy Cherry-Pike and husband Johnie, Josie Jones and husband David, and a furry companion, Daisy Rae Mae.
She is preceded in death by her husband Norwood Tayloe Cherry, Jr., two brothers, Shelton Ray Wells, Danny Lee Wells, a sister, Shirley Jean Smith, and a step father, Stan Sadler.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center
