A Greenville teenager died this morning while traveling on U.S. Highway 264 in Washington.
Joshua Cannon, 19, was traveling east “above the posted speed limit” without the headlights of a 2016 Hyundai passenger car turned on, North Carolina State Highway Patrol said. Troopers responded to the wreck at approximately 7 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19.
Orlandle Jenkins, 52, of Pantego, was struck by Cannon when he attempted to make a left turn onto Creekside Drive where it intersects with U.S. Highway 264. After the collision, Cannon’s vehicle overturned onto its topside in the roadway, troopers said.
Cannon was pronounced deceased at the scene. Jenkins was transported to ECU Health Main Campus in Greenville with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. No charges are expected for Jenkins, according to State Highway Patrol.
