Mrs. Juanita Williams Collins, 48, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, at the United Holy Deliverance Church in Williamston with pastor Braddock Pearsall and Elder Brenda W. Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Memorial Garden in Williamston.
Mrs. Collins was born on March 3, 1959 in Martin County. She was the daughter of the late Elisha R. and Almeta Edwards Williams Sr. She attended public schools in Williamston. She furthered her studies at Martin Community College, earning an associate’s degree in general office technology. Prior to declining health, she was employed with Stanadyne Corp. in Washington. She was a member of St. John’s Holiness Church in Vanceboro.
On Sept. 4, 2004, Mrs. Collins was married to Melvin Earl Collins who survives.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters; Shameka Williams of Williamston and Jameta L. Williams of Washington; three step-daughters, Juanita Copeland, Keisha Freeman and Charlotte Harris; a son, Jonathan L. Williams of Washington; two step-sons, Melvin Earl Collins Jr. and Marvin Earl Collins; four brothers; James A. Williams of Wilmington, Elisha L. Williams Jr. of Durham, Joe Williams of Raleigh and George Buck White; a sister, Clara Bell; 24 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A sister, Lucy M. Griffin preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 17 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington. The family will receive friends at 848 N. Pierce St. in Washington.
