An officer-involved shooting took place in Beaufort County today, District Attorney Tom Anglim shared with news outlets.

The law enforcement officer involved is on Administrative Leave, Anglim shared.

The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.

As of 2:15 p.m., a portion of Highway 33 between Frederick Road and Carrow Road in Chocowinity has been closed for further notice.
