BAYVIEW, N.C. — Call it a hole-in-one on the last hole for the Links at Bayview.
Thanks to a working agreement between the owner of the course, Tony Tetterton, and the operating manager of the facility, Richard Glendinning, the Bayview golf course won’t be closing for good after all. Back in December, we reported that Tetterton was looking to close the facility, which had been operational for more than half a century.
The Black-Eyed Pea Tournament at the course on Jan. 1 was slated to be the last event before the course would be closed. There were talks of the nine-hole course being turned into a nature preserve or developed for new housing.
Glendinning said at the time that he and Tetterton had been talking about finding a way to keep the course open. However, on Jan. 1, nothing had been resolved. The course has been closed lately due to the winter weather and non-playing season.
In a text sent Thursday morning, Glendinning said, “We have a 5-year agreement to keep the course open with two years guaranteed. Thanks for your help.”
