Washington — Horace Norman Miller, Sr., 92, of Washington, NC, a longtime Preacher of the Gospel, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Mr. Miller was born in Perquimans County on August 24, 1932, and was the son of the late Horace Richard and Gertrude Caddy Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Dail, Dorothy Styons, and Faye Ashley.

A graduate of Roanoke Bible College (now Mid-Atlantic Christian University) in Elizabeth City and Milligan College (now Milligan University) in Elizabethton, TN, he was ordained to the Christian ministry on October 30, 1955. As a Church of Christ minister, he had pastored Bridgeton, Gap Creek, Lowland, Capitol City, and St. Clair’s Church of Christ. After retiring he and his wife joined the fellowship of Rosemary Church of Christ in Washington.

Surviving is his wife of over 69 years, Polly Barbour Miller; their children, Horace Norman Miller, Jr. (wife, Penny) of Washington, Gary Thomas Miller (wife, Lisa) of Bath, and Lori Miller Prescott (husband, Mack) of New Bern; a brother, Leavy Miller (wife, Judy) of Nashville, NC; seven grandchildren, Erica Henthorn (Luke), Mack Prescott (Samantha), Horace Caleb Miller (Ashley), Joshua Miller, Kelly Wilson (Jamie), Daniel Miller, and Sarah Sparks (Miles); seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended members of both the Miller and Barbour families.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 8th, at 2:30 p.m. in Rosemary Church of Christ, 5116 Slatestone Road, Washington, NC, and were conducted by Ministers Tim Stamper and David Mason, and by family friend, Larry Scott. The burial followed in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

Friends were invited to visit with the family in the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services.
