Charles E. Jennette 1930 - 2008

Charles Edison Jennette, 77, of 195 Makelyville Road, Scranton and more recently a resident of Cross Creek Health Care Center, died early Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Cross Creek following failing symptoms of Alzheimers Disease.
Born in Hyde County, July 14, 1930, he was the son of the late B. C. and Lily Greene Jennette. He was married to the former Anne Bowen who preceded him in death. A resident of Grifton for many years while working with E. I. Dupont Corporation, he returned to his native Makelyville Community after retirement. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, a good neighbor and a good friend to all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Eunice Chapel Church of Christ. Phil Emmert will officiate. Burial will follow in Warner Cemetery.
Surviving are a daughter, Sherian Elaine J. Swindell and her husband, Michael of Scranton; a son, Walter Greene Jennette and wife, Ginger of Stokes; a sister, Wilma J. Blake of Portsmouth, Va.; grandchildren, Michael Shannon Swindell of Grandy, Cameron Douglas Swindell of Scranton, Sherian Nicole Swindell of Kill Devil Hills, Joshua Kane Jennette of Tucson, Ariz., and Kristina Leigh Jennette of Roxboro; great-grandchildren, Michael Ian Swindell of Grandy and “Maggie” Margaret Ann Swindell of Scranton.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Walter Horace Jennette, Delbert Greene Jennette, Victor Uriah Jennette; sister, June Marlowe J. Hamilton.
The family will receive friends at Bryan Funeral Service on Monday evening, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Swindell, 6959 Sladesville/Credle Road, Scranton. Online sympathy messages may be sent to www.bryanfs.com.
