Mrs. Ollie Ruth Oliver Gardner, 83, of Plymouth, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at Spring Arbor of Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Christian Church, Plymouth, with the Rev. V. Thomas Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gardner was born in Washington County on March 23, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Pearlie and Dera Jackson Oliver. She was married to William Randolph Gardner, who survives. She was a retired clerk with Arps Drug Store. She was a member of First Christian Church, where she served as an elder, taught Sunday school and was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship.
Survivors include one daughter, Sherry G. Young of Greenville; two sisters, Faye O. Simmons of Edenton and Lois O. Rouse of Trenton; two brothers, Russell B. Oliver of Plymouth and Eddie R. Oliver of San Bernardino, Calif.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara O. Doughtie and two brothers, P. Jackson Oliver and R. Douglas Oliver.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of First Christian Church, Plymouth, Thursday following the funeral service.
