Heather Faith Wynne and Taylor Franklin Black were united in marriage Saturday, June 4, 2011, at 4:00 in the afternoon. The outdoor wedding was held at the Pamlico River waterfront home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Alligood of Washington. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Pastor Tony Krantz.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Michael Wynne of Williamston, NC. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Sarah Wynne of Williamston, NC and the late Mr. James Darrell Wynne, and Mrs. Roy Gilliam Hoggard and the late Mr. Hoggard of Lewiston, NC.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ottis Franklin Black of Washington, NC. He is the grandson of Mrs. George Edmund Pendleton, Jr. of Scotland Neck, NC and the late Mr. Pendleton and Mrs. Floyd Milburn Black of Washington, NC and the late Mr. Black.

The entrance to the wedding site was decorated with two large white stone stands and ferns. Short shepherds hooks holding blue hydrangeas tied with white ribbons marked the rows of white chairs. The wedding site was decorated with an archway covered in magnolia and smilax, and adorned with white bows. Large ferns on tall white stands stood on either side of the arch.

The bride was escorted by her father, Mr. James Michael Wynne. She wore a formal strapless A-line gown with corset closure. It featured an overlying ruched bodice that transitioned to a softly draped A-line skirt. The fluted side drape revealed a gathered tulle inset panel with lace drifting to the scalloped hemline. Embellished lace motifs decorated the neckline and side skirt. A bow introduced the pleated sunburst train. She wore a white fingertip veil and carried a cascading bouquet of yellow roses, daisies and white lilies.

Attending the bride as her maid of honor was her sister, Miss Hillary Wynne of Washington. Bridesmaids were Miss Mila Arnold and Miss Jaclyn Cullipher, cousin of the bride, of Washington, Miss Paige Hill of Bath, Miss Mika Gurganus of Greenville, and Miss Ashley Griffin of Carrboro.

The attendants wore cornflower blue semi-formal strapless taffeta dresses with horizontal ruched tiers. They carried bouquets of mixed spring flowers and yellow roses.

Honorary bridesmaids were Mrs. Anna Gay of Rocky Mount and Mrs. Katy Swain of Raeford, sisters of the bridegroom.

Flower girls were Miss Lorelai Swain and Miss Addison Swain of Raeford, nieces of the bridegroom. They wore white organza dresses that closed with satin covered buttons with a blue satin sash that tied in a flat bow at the back.

Mr. Franklin Black served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. B.J. Marsh of Bath, Mr. Dusty Cox of Greenville, Mr. Cory Cox and Mr. Craig Davis of Washington and Mr. Guy Jones of Rowland.

Honorary groomsmen were Mr. Mark Black and Mr. Jesse Respess, cousins of the bridegroom, of Washington.

Ring bearers were Master Parker Gay of Rocky Mount, nephew of the groom, and Master Cole Hoggard of Grimesland, cousin of the bride.

Mistress of ceremony was Mrs. Renee Hoggard, aunt of the bride, of Grimesland. Register attendant was Miss Taylor Godard and Program attendant was Miss Jenna Godard, cousins of the bride, both of Williamston.

The mother of the bride wore a formal dress of orchid shantung with a matching lace sequined bolero jacket. The mother of the groom wore a formal three-piece ensemble of slate blue brushed satin.

Following the ceremony, a dinner hosted by the bride’s parents was held on the waterfront. Tables covered in white linens were arranged under a large white tent. Yellow roses floating in tall glass vases encircled with ivy and smilax adorned the tables. Guests enjoyed dancing to music provided by Creative Entertainment.

The three-tier white wedding cake and two satellite cakes were decorated with yellow and white daisies and ivy. The cake was cut and served by Mrs. Lisa Godard, aunt of the bride and Mrs. Polly Staton, aunt of the groom.

On Friday evening, a rehearsal dinner was held at Flair by Sharon in Washington hosted by the parents of the bridegroom. The tables were covered in white linens and centered with arrangements of pink roses and baby’s breath. After dinner and toasts, guests were treated to a video of the couple from their early years to present day.

Several parties were held prior to the wedding. On February 5, 2011, an engagement party held at Black Brothers Farms was hosted by family and friends. A chicken and barbecue dinner was served and music was provided by the band, Sudden Change. A bridal shower was hosted by the groom’s family and friends on March 27 at Beaver Dam Church of Christ. A bridal shower was hosted by the bride’s family and friends on April 17 at the home of the bride. Groomsmen and bridesmaids hosted a dinner and shower for the couple on May 7 at the High/Low Club at Black Brothers Farms. A bachelorette trip to Charleston, SC was held the weekend of May 13-15. A bachelor’s dinner was hosted by groomsmen and friends at the High/Low Club at Black Brothers Farms on May 28. A bridesmaids’ brunch was given on Friday, June 3, 2011, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Everett in Bath. Hostesses were Mrs. Terry Everett and Mrs. Becky McRoy.

The bride earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently a nurse at the East Carolina Heart Institute in Greenville. She will begin pursuing a Family Nurse Practitioner graduate degree from UNC-Wilmington in the fall.

The bridegroom earned an associate degree in Agricultural Pest Management from North Carolina State University. He is currently employed as a crop consultant at Crop Production Services in Vanceboro.

Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Washington.
