A majority of the Four Rivers Conference golf teams were all in action Monday afternoon with six teams playing at two different venues.
Southside, Williamston and Northside were in action at Cypress Landing in Chocowinity. Williamston claimed victory with a 152, followed by Northside which just edged out Southside 212-214.
Williamston's Matt Hardison was the medalist of that event with a nine-hole round of 35. Teammates Drew Butts, William Ritter, Green Melette and Mickie Rawls each shot a 39 while Will Parker recorded a 50.
Russ Davis paced Southside (1-3) with a 46. Arpit Patel had a 50 while Patrick Martin and Nick Tate both turned in a 59 and Daniel Moore recorded a 64.
B.J. Marsh had a 48 for Northside. Chip Davis brought home a 54 and William Everett, Nat Neal and Matt Francis finished two strokes apart from each other with rounds of 59, 61 and 63, respectively.
In Plymouth, at the Plymouth County Club, the Vikings won a much tighter match with a 200. Cape Hatteras was second at 232 and Perquimans third with a 239.
Plymouth's Samuel Brown was the medalist with a round of 41. Brandon Smith recorded a 49 with Adam Hedgepeth coming in four shots better. Tommy Smith had a 65.
Daniel Wells led Cape Hatters with a 46. Jeremy Beckham contributed a 57 and D.J. Bowen marked a 61. Chad Fagley's card showed 68 strokes.
John Cassie paced Perquimans with a 50, ten shots better than teammate Austin Eure. Adam Lassiter beat out Mack Toom for third on that team with a 64, one shot better than Toom.
Plymouth (1-2) will play Lawrence Academy Thursday. Both teams call the Plymouth Country Club home.
Pam Pack finishes sixth
GOLDSBORO -- Eastern Wayne played host to an Eastern Carolina Conference golf match Monday afternoon.
Coming in first was Eastern Wayne 316 followed by C.B. Aycock 332, Southern Wayne 340, West Carteret 344, Kinston 364, Washington 380, West Craven 398 and South Central 424.
The medalist of the day was Robert Garris of Eastern Wayne shot at 76 over 18 holes.
For Washington, Jeremy Smith shot an 87 to lead to the way. Philip Angarole was second with a round of 93 and Sam Leggett shot a 99 for third. In fourth was Grayson Hodges shot a 101. Rounding out the top five was Eric Apple with a 103. Joey Lecompte shot a 107.
It was Washington's first conference match. The Pam Pack had a match with West Craven earlier in a non-conference event.
Washington will play Tuesday against C.B. Aycock at Falling Creek Country Club near Kinston. Tee time is set for 3 p.m. All eight teams are scheduled to be in action.
Washington tops Manteo
MANTEO -- Washington's tennis team won all but one match that it fielded a singles' player or a doubles' team in Monday's match with Manteo, winning 6-3.
Washington (3-3) hosts Eastern Wayne today.

Blue Demons win a pair
Graham Fulcher struck out three and belted a double in helping P.S. Jones capture a 15-5 win in their season-opening baseball game Monday afternoon.
The Blue Demons have had several games postponed due to rain and were forced to open the season against Coastal Middle School Conference foe G. C. Fields.
Lee Watkins paced P.S. Jones with a pair of hits in his three trips to the plate. Watkins scored three runs, including a two-run homer. Trey Whitley also scored three times. He was 2-for-3. Hardy Andrews and J.D. Robinson had two hits each. Roberson had a double. Jeffrey Boyd also had a double on the day.
In the softball game, P.S. Jones defeated G.C. Fields 16-0 in 4 1/2 innings.
Sam Hulon picked up the victory. The eighth grader handed out 10 strikeouts and four walks, without giving up a hit. She was also 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI in both the first and second innings, a triple in the fourth with the bases loaded and two outs, to drive in three runs. Hulon scored on an error on the the relay for the 16th run.
Susan Braddy was 3-for-4 with a triple in the second inning and a double in the first. She added an RBI in the fourth. Johnna Bell was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Marissa Fucito was 2-for-4 with a RBI in the second and an RBI-triple in the third. Kristen Holt also had an RBI in the second. She was 2-for-3 including a double in the first.
Heather Polk was 2-for-2 with an RBI in the second and Brooke Burnette was 2-for-3 with a double in the second in drove in a run. Sheria Jones doubled in the second inning to go 1-for-1 on the day.
P.S. Jones will travel to Havelock Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. start time, then to Williamston on Thursday.
