Mrs. Beulah Leigh Stevenson Simpson, age 91, of 293 Williams Loop Road, Roper, N.C., died Tuesday afternoon at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth, N.C.
Born in Martin County, N.C. on October 22, 1916, Mrs. Simpson was the daughter of the late William Claude Stevenson and Mrs. Leta Florence Gardner Stevenson. She was a homemaker and member of Roper Baptist Church, Roper, N.C.
Surviving are three sons: Daniel J. “Pete” Simpson and wife Mary Ann, Roper, N.C.; Howard E. Simpson, Jr., Roper, N.C.; Garry L. Simpson, Great Bend, KS.; two daughters: Phyllis Simpson Broyles and husband James, Roper, N.C.; Janie Simpson Williams and husband Raymond “Ray,” Roper, N.C.; eight grandchildren: Gregory Broyles, Sherrie Hostetter, Beverly Davis, Danny Simpson, Debbie Plonowski, Stephen Williams, Raymond Williams, Jr., and Chena Cayton; eighteen great-grandchildren: Ryan Williams, Dana Williams, Jansyn Williams, Devin Cayton, Sarah Williams, John Williams, Lisa Plonowski, Ashley Simpson, Christopher Simpson, Jo Beth Broyles, David Broyles, Jessica Osbreh, Rebecca Thomas, Jeremiah Hostetter, Megan Davis, Ethan Davis, Mister Davis and Diamond Davis and five great-great-grandchildren: Anastasia Thomas, Isaiah Thomas, Hadassah Thomas, Hannah Ruth Hostetter and Zion Osebreh.
Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her husband: Howard Edward Simpson; a son: baby Simpson; five brothers, William Dave, Henry, James, Roy Gray and Johnny Stevenson; four sisters: Fannie Bell Carter, Della Barber, Bessie Irene Phelps and Addie B. Lilley.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Roper Baptist Church, Roper, N.C. with the Rev. Howard Simpson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 14, 2008 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home-Horner Chapel, Plymouth, N.C. and other times at 293 Williams Loop Road, Roper, N.C.
