Mr. Arthur Clayton Crofton, 91, of Williamston, died Friday, March 28, 2008, at Martin General Hospital in Williamston.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church, with the Rev. Tom Goebel officiating. Burial will follow at Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Crofton was born in Martin County on Sept. 2, 1916. His parents were the late Ida Roberson Crofton and George Crofton. Mr. Crofton was a retired insurance agent. He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Force. He married Frances Faucett in October 1965.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Faucett Crofton; a son, Clayton Crofton Jr. of Apex; a daughter, Carla Reese Stevenson of the Villages, Fla.; two step-daughters, Jackie Manning Boone of Roxboro and Ana Manning Yeatts of Falls Church, Va.; eight grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Monday in the church parlor.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the First Christian Church building fund.
