On Monday at approximately 12:32 a.m., deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office assisted the North Carolina State Highway Patrol with an arrest at a license checkpoint at the intersection of N.C. Highway 33 and Mill Road in Chocowinity.
Troopers approached a vehicle operated in a suspicious manner near the checkpoint. A trooper determined the driver might have been under the influence of alcohol.
During a search of the vehicle, digital scales and plastic baggies were discovered. A pill bottle containing several individually packaged white, rock-like pieces consistent with crack cocaine was found near the vehicle.
As a result of information and evidence collected by the Highway Patrol and sheriff’s office, Jermaine Devonne Moore, 37, of Firetower Road, Greenville, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The NCSHP charged Moore with driving while impaired.
Moore was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under an $1,800 secured.
