Ashley Crompton kept the Pam Pack close with a brilliant performance in goal in the first half.
Crompton stopped 14-of-15 first half shots, including six from point-blank range, as she held West Carteret’s high-octane offense to one first half goal.
However, the Pack couldn’t keep the Pats high-flying offense in check in the final 40 minutes, no matter how well their senior goalie played.
The Pats scored five times in the second half to break a 1-1 halftime tie, as they pummeled the Pam Pack 6-1 in a Conference 8 showdown on Monday night.
West Carteret opened the second half with three goals in the first 10 minutes and never looked back as they ran their season record to 12-2.
Lauren Pearce started the second half barrage with a goal 30 seconds into the half. Seven minutes later, Lisa Clay put the Patriots up 3-1 as she raced past a pair of Pack defenders and beat Crompton.
The Patriots third goal of the half came just before the 50th-minute mark as Jesse Enterlane scored her second goal of the game off a pass from Clay.
Then, with 12:55 remaining, Enterlane added another goal for the hat trick.
The Patriots completed their second half romp as Pearce scored her second goal on a shot from five feet out.
Washington played one of their best halves of the season in the first. After Enterlane scored her first goal of the game with 22:58 remaining, the Pack knotted the game as Xenia Adonts rocketed a shot past Patriots’ goalie Lauren Morris.
The game-changing moment for the Pack came i the game’s opening minutes.
Freshman Beth Batchelor broke free in the seventh-minute of the contest and buried a shot past Morris. But seconds after the ball hit the net, the far side referee raised the offside flag nullifying the Pack goal. The call left the Pack sideline enraged.
The Patriots out shot the Lady Pack 29-8. Crompton finished with 23 saves for Washington (6-5), while Morris had seven stops for West Carteret.
The Pack will be back in action on Wednesday when they play host to D.H. Conley at 7 p.m.
