The Hyde County Community Development Corp. welcomes a new tenant to the Hyde Davis Business Enterprise Center in the former Davis School at 33460 U.S. Highway 264. The Northeastern Workforce Development Board opened a Hyde County office in the center to provide services to selected at-risk youth. These services will focus on the education and development of occupational skills for individuals facing barriers to graduation and future sustainable employment.

Jessica Lunsford, NWDB youth training and employment specialist, will address the Youth Workforce Investment Act program elements through a community collaborative program. These elements include study skills, dropout prevention, alternative school offerings, employment opportunities, leadership development, supportive services and a 12-month follow-up effort to better prepare eligible youth for successful employment in northeastern North Carolina.

In the past, these two organizations have partnered to provide North Carolina JobLink services to the Hyde County community. Information on adult and dislocated worker programs that emphasize post-secondary education and improving the employability of eligible individual ages 18 and older as well as job search assistance will be available at the Engelhard office.
