Mrs. Doris B. Nolley

Mrs. Doris Baker Nolley, age 87, a resident of Slatestone Drive, Washington, died Thursday evening, Aug. 11, 2011, at River Trace Nursing Center.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Dr. Michael Price.
Mrs. Nolley was born in Pitt County on Dec. 12, 1923, daughter of the late Charles Wesley Baker and Mary Lee Moore Parks Baker. She was married to William Edwards Nolley who preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1987. She was employed with Thomas Howard Co. as the bookkeeper. Mrs. Nolley was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington. She was a Deaconness, Circle Leader, a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, a member of C.F.W. and was the chairperson for several other committees in the Church. She was a volunteer at Washington High School office and concession stand.
She is survived by her son: William Edwards Nolley Jr. and wife, Jean George Nolley of Clayton; her grandsons: George Wesley Ball IV, that she reared and wife, Jennifer Sparboe Ball of Washington and William B. Nolley and wife, Shannon Marie Nolley of Birmingham, Ala.; her granddaughter: Alexandria George Nolley and her great-grandchildren: Maggie Lee Ball and Jezabelle Mai Pavlas. In addition to her husband and parents, her daughter, Mary Jo Ball Pearson preceded her in death on April 11, 2007. Her sister, Fannie Norris and stepfather, Joseph F. Parks Jr. also preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
