Ms. Jean Carol Collins, 56, of 159 Greenhill Road, Engelhard, died Monday, May 5, 2008, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Engelhard, with pastor George Merrick officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Memorial Cemetery, Engelhard.
Ms. Collins was born in Hyde County on Nov. 27, 1951. She was the daughter of Hannah Collins Mackey and the late Dearest Luke Mackey. She was daughter-in-kind of the late David Murray. She was a 1970 graduate of Mattamuskeet High School, Swan Quarter. She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Elizabeth City State University. She was employed as county coordinator with the Economic Improvement Council. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Engelhard, where she served as a choir member, program coordinator and Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include two daughters, Felicia C. Collins and Chiquita Monet Collins, both of Greenville; and one grandchild.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the home.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
