Mr. James Edward “Jimmy” Farrow, 67, of 726 Gladden St., Washington, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Beebe Memorial C.M.E. Church, Washington, with the Rev. Edward Moultrie Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington.
Mr. Farrow as born in Pamlico County on Oct. 30, 1940. He was the son of the late Estella Stewart Farrow and Willie Kelly Farrow. He attended the Pamlico County Schools and graduated high school in the Williamsburg County School System, Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a Navy veteran. He was employed with Ideal Toy Co. for 25 years in Brooklyn, N.Y. After relocating to North Carolina, he became an entrepreneur working as a general contractor specializing in brick and block masonry. He was married to Laveina Clark Farrow, who survives. He was a member of Beebe Memorial C.M.E. Church, Washington, where he served on the trustee board.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane Mack of Bronx, N.Y., Missy Farrow-Keyes of Covington, Ga., and Beverly Farrow of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sons, James Farrow Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Ralph Farrow of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Celestine Jones of Brooklyn, N.Y., Angel Johnson of New Jersey and Brenda Farrow of Fayetteville; five brothers, Kadell Farrow of Brooklyn, N.Y., Ralph A. Farrow of Hope Well, Va., and Jerry Farrow, Thomas Farrow and Willie Farrow, all of New Bern; his stepmother, Dorothy Farrow of New Bern and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kelly Lewis Farrow and Mason Farrow and two sisters, Katie Farrow-Coleman and Dorothy Farrow-Harris.
The body will be viewed only during the funeral service.
The family will receive friends at the home.
