Dick Knight enjoyed his Music in the Streets experience in June so much that he asked to be allowed to return.
Well, his wish has been granted. The Dick Knight Express returns to Music in the Streets in downtown Washington on Friday. Knight has played in James Brown’s band and with many other musicians such as Otis Redding.
Music in the Streets, which runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., is held the third Friday of each Month from April through October.
LCR, making its Music in the Streets debut, is a four-piece band from Greenville. The band plays a mixture of originals songs and covers.
Almost making its debut at Music in the Streets is Sunshine and Crime, a funky reggae band from Greenville.
Another entertainer making his Music in the Streets debut is Jeff Bennett, a Washington High School student who will have instrumental accompaniment.
Ryan Schmitt and Friends also is scheduled to perform, featuring local student and guitarist Greyson Schmitt.
The Harvest Church Teens, performing for the first time at Music in the Streets, are slated to perform music with a praise/worship theme.
Instrumental guitarist J.B. Mayes is expected for a return engagement at Music in the Streets.
Marantha Ministries will be represented by Robert Horne, Ruth Craig and a praise team during the street festival Friday.
Keyboard player Kimberly Waters, a veteran Music in the Streets performer, will sing her original music, with her band members along for Friday’s event.
The Music in the Streets Shaggers and the Down East Rods & Classics return to Music in the Streets on Friday.
For this year, other Music in the Streets events are slated for Sept. 16 and Oct. 21. Music in the Streets is organized by the Washington Harbor District Alliance.
