Ms. Cottie Mae Spain Woolard, 88, a lifelong resident of Belhaven and more recently of 3096 Terrapin Track Road, Washington, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Belhaven First Assembly of God with pastors Phillip Jethro and Allen Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Belhaven Community Cemetery.
Ms. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on Oct. 7, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Dallas Richard and Mary Alice Bullock Spain. She was married to Wilbur Gray Woolard, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Belhaven First Assembly of God, where she was active in various church functions.
Survivors include four daughters, Della Salter of Arapahoe, Lillian Sawyer of Pantego, and Rita Nash and Brenda Wallace, both of Washington; two sisters, Virginia Warren of Washington, and Audrey Goff of Tarboro; two brothers, Devon Spain and Roger Spain; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Manuel G. Woolard; three sisters, Lydia Dixon, Grace and Stella Woolard; and six brothers, Dallas Jr., Alfred, Dan, Richard, Elton and Burl Spain.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Belhaven First Assembly of God.
Arrangements are by Miller Funeral Home &Crematory, Edenton.
