Steelworkers Union was given the cold shoulder

AURORA — In a National Labor Relations Board-conducted election at PCS Phosphate Aurora on Thursday and Friday workers voted against representation by the Steelworkers Union. The decision came by a margin of 151 for to 593 against representation, according to a press release issued by PCS Phosphate.
The targeted employees were out of the company’s bargaining unit, according to Mike Gwynn, manager of public affairs for PCS Phosphate.
The employees specialize in production and maintenance, and work on an hourly wage.
PCS Phosphate Aurora General Manager Richard Atwood was pleased with the vote, and believes it shows the unit’s trust in the company.
He also looks forward to moving on from the distractions of the union’s campaign.
PCS Phosphate Company President Tom Regan commended the unit for it’s decision.
