William “Billy” H. Stewart

Mr. William “Billy” Hamilton Stewart, age 54, a resident of 1056 Sheppard Mill Road, Greenville, NC died August 18, 2011.
A graveside service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday August 21, 2011 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, conducted by Pastor Kenneth Pritchard. Ricky Morris, Billy McRoy, Bryan Cherry, Travis Swain, Randall Morgan and Randy Wood will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Arnold, Jerry Eizenzimmer, Larry Everette, and Edmond Ipock.
The family will receive friends 2:30-4:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home of his son, Derek Stewart, 212 E. 10th Street, Washington.
Mr. Stewart was born in Norfolk, Va. in February 24, 1957. He was the son of Geraldine Woolard Stewart and the late A. T. Stewart. Mr. Stewart graduated from Washington High School and was an Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 21 sponsored by the First Christian Church. He worked for Hackney and Sons for 25 years, first as a welder and later as a driver. Mr. Stewart worked for TMC Transportation of Des Moines, Iowa as a driver where he became an owner and operator of Stewart & Sons Trucking. Later he leased on with Younce Trucking before also working for Triple E Trucking of Greenville. His trucking handle was “Grease Monkey.” In his spare time, he used to race cars at Robersonville Speedway, enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing with his boys and was drummer for the band Cyanyde.
Mr. Stewart is survived by two sons, William “Derek” Stewart and Lewis “Grant” Stewart both of Washington; mother of his children, Regina Gaye Stewart of Washington; his mother, Geraldine Woolard Stewart of Washington; granddaughter, Shelby Leigh Stewart of Washington; sister, Kimberly Ann Modlin of Washington and companion, Barbara Sprouse of Washington.
In addition to his father, Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by a son, Rusty Shane Stewart.
