Mrs. Billie Briley Edwards, 73, of Pactolus, died Friday, May 30, 2008.
A funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Wilkerson Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Freddie Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Edwards was a native of the Simpson community of Pitt County, but had made her home in Pactolus for the past 50 years. She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Carrie Briley. She received her undergraduate and master’s degree in elementary education from East Carolina University. She taught school in Pactolus and Grimesland prior to her retirement after 30 years of service. She was a member of Fidelis Beta Alpha Delta Kappa Educational Sorority. She was married to William Robert “Bob” Edwards, who survives. She was a member of Pactolus Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Edwards of Pactolus, and Eric Edwards of Ayden; four grandchildren; and two brothers, James Briley of New Bern, and Erastus Briley of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Greenville, and other times at the home.
