On Aug. 17, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny at a residence on Spruce Street, Washington. The victim reported several diamond rings, necklaces and earrings stolen from the residence. The victim suspected a member of a construction crew working at the residence was responsible for the theft.

As a result of an investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore obtained a warrant charging Luis Pereda, 25, of Tori Lane, Washington, with one count of felony larceny. Some of the stolen jewelry was recovered during a search at Pereda’s residence.

On Aug. 17, Pereda was arrested and placed in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond.
